Mike joined the
Hoffman Brown Company organization in
1986. His responsibilities
include the servicing and management of a book of commercial
insurance accounts, new business production, and the support of
other HBC Departments including Personal Lines and Life/Medical.
After graduating from
UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1977, Mike
immediately began his insurance career as a Commercial Package
Underwriter with the Aetna Life and Casualty Company. They provided
him a good training experience, including a 7 week stint in their
Hartford home office, helping set the foundation for his future
career. In 1980, Mike moved from the carrier side to the agency side
of the industry, going to a Pasadena brokerage firm. While with the
Pasadena agency, Mike earned his Fire & Casualty and his Life &
Health licenses. That initial agency position and two similar ones
at other firms over the next six years allowed Mike to broaden the
scope of his insurance knowledge in many different areas. He terms
his early experiences of soliciting insurance on a "cold call" basis
as invaluable. They provided him the background that added to his
growth, knowledge and maturity in the field.
Over the years, Mike
has attended a number of industry conventions and special events,
and has passed more than one-half of the courses leading to the
coveted Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
designation. His dedication to professionalism is evident with his
clients and his peers.
